According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 62,168 people in Rhode Island who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 5.67% of the total population of Rhode Island. Providence County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (53,803), followed by Kent County (3,220), and Newport County (2,840). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Bristol County (773), Washington County (1,532), and Newport County (2,840).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Providence County had the highest percentage, with 8.14% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Newport County (3.32%), and Kent County (1.89%).
