According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 3,552,997 people in Texas who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 12.19% of the total population of Texas. Harris County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (907,063), followed by Dallas County (574,183), and Tarrant County (366,727). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: Loving County (0), King County (0), and Kenedy County (1).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Jefferson County had the highest percentage, with 33.07% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Bowie County (25.03%), and Houston County (23.54%).
