Mississippi Black or African American Alone Voting-age Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, among all the Mississippi voting-age population (18 years and over), there were 802,963 people who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 35.26% of the total voting-age population of Mississippi.

Hinds County had the highest number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population (119,372), followed by DeSoto County (39,772), and Harrison County (36,383).

On the other hand, the three counties with low number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population were: Tishomingo County (361), Issaquena County (646), and Itawamba County (1,261).

In terms of the percentage of each county's voting-age population, Claiborne County had the highest percentage, with 85.95% of its voting-age population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Jefferson County (83.67%), and Holmes County (81.48%).
