Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2021, among all North Carolina counties, Bertie County had the highest percentage of its population who identified their ethnicity as Non-Hispanic Black or African American (60.51%), followed by Hertford County (57.73%), and Edgecombe County (56.61%).
