Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2017, among all US states and DC, District of Columbia had the highest percentage of its population who identified their race as Black or African American Alone (47.17%), followed by Mississippi (37.78%), and Louisiana (32.73%).

On the other hand, Montana had the lowest percentage of its population who identified as Black or African American Alone (0.58%), followed by Idaho (0.87%), and Wyoming (1.24%).
