California Total Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Loan Amounts By Business County (2020)
According to data from the Small Businesss Administration (SBA), the SBA, as part of the paycheck protection program (PPP), has provided a total of 1,270,597 (1.27M) loans totaling $103,162,981,309 ($103.16B) to small businesses in California. The total number of jobs saved by these loans was 11,337,619 (11.34M).
As at April 2025, 1.14M number of loans has been completely forgiven by SBA (89.63% of the total number of loans), and a total of $98.28B has been forgiven (95.27% of the total loan amount). The PPP program was intended to provide incentives for small businesses to keep their workers on payroll.

Total Loan Amount: In terms of total loan amounts given to businesses per county, Los Angeles received the highest ($29,977,857,338), followed by Orange ($11,641,091,070), and San Diego ($8,770,909,611).
Number of Loans: For total number of loans given to businesses in each county, Los Angeles received the highest (433,596), followed by Orange (123,252), and San Diego (100,543).
