Non-Compliance Description:

On 08-30-2021, at approximately 1045 hours, I, Dr. REDACTED SPHV/IIC, observed the following noncompliance during a Livestock Humane Handling task Category VII – Slips and falls and observed the following noncompliance in Pen 4: A beef cow lot was presented for antemortem inspection and on the cows return back to Pen 4, cows were walking cautiously since I was in their line of vision. I observed one cow slowly approaching the entrance losing its footing on all 4 limbs and the side of the body made contact with the ground as it was turning to enter Pen 4. I observed another cow losing footing on all 4 limbs who was also approaching the entrance of pen 4 slowly. I observed 4 by 2 ft area of wet mud at the level of the groove, there is no longer a groove, and a puddle of water approximately 18x6 inches area at the entrance of pen 4 at the level of grooves on the ground. The cows were not excessively handled or excitable at that time. Floors of livestock pens, ramps, and driveways shall be constructed and maintained so as to provide good footing for livestock. I notified Plant Manager REDACTED of the noncompliance and placement of tag on No B-45406119.

Non-Compliance Description:

On June 2, 2021, at approximately 0730 hours, I, Dr. REDACTED Supervisory Public Health Veterinarian, found the following the noncompliance: 1. A metal twisted cord unraveled at the end exposing 5 sharp edges at the feeding trough in Pen 10. Pens, driveways, and ramps must be maintained in good repair. They must be kept free from sharp or protruding objects that can cause injury. Cows are often housed at the establishment during the day and overnight. The metal sharp edges can cause injury to the cows during feeding and idle possibly impaling their eyeball and/or lacerating their body. I notified the management team (REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED, REDACTED REDACTED of the noncompliance and placement of the US Rejected Tag B45406098 Pen 10.
