Non-Compliance Description:

At approximately 10:50 am June 08, 2021 I CSI REDACTED observed the following non-compliance. While performing HATS category III – Water and Feed Availability. I noticed that the sheep that had been moved from the outside pasture into the barn holding pen where they had been presented for slaughter antemortem had no water available as they were being held throughout the day. The Island Grown Farmers Coop member informed me” the sheep had water this morning and they should be fine”. I then informed him that the animals have to have access to water at all times. He then got a bucket and filled it with water and put in the corner of the pen. No regulatory action was taken at this time. All pens including trucks and trailers which are frequently used as holding pens on this assignment must have water available at all times. A similar noncompliance was written on 4/16/2020 I CSI REDACTED verbally notified Plant Manger Jim Wieringa of the non- compliance with CFR 313.2 (e) and a written report will be issued.
