Non-Compliance Description:

On Thursday, September 23, 2021, Dr. REDACTED conducted a humane handling audit observing slaughter of formula fed and bob veal. Numerous areas are noted to have sharp protrusions and could cause harm to animals. Inside the staging chute leading to the stunning box, several rusted and jagged areas were discovered. There were strands and clumps of hair adhered to the areas indicating contact is being made and may be causing abrasions. Another area observed is on the unloading ramp where areas on the walls are damaged and splintered which could cause injury to passing animals. Pen number one also has damaged wood both above and below the block line. Formula fed veal tend to lick the walls and splintered wood could cause injury to their mouths and tongues. The above findings are in violation of 9 CFR 313.1 livestock pens, driveways and ramps.
