Non-Compliance Description:

On April 19, 2021 at approximately 1930 hours; during odd hours visit to verify compliance with the regulatory requirements pertaining to humane handling of livestock. I observed approximately thirty-five (35) sheep/goats densely stocked appear to be overcrowded in a holding pen next to the USDA suspect pen. I investigated further and found out that water hose (approximately 3-4 feet) that connects water container with the water supply line was missing and water trough was dry without water. Ms. REDACTED (FLS) who visited with me confirmed these findings. No plant employee was present at the premises during the inspection time. Following morning, all animals had been removed from the pen prior to the arrival of USDA IPP. Mr. REDACTED was notified that noncompliance will be documented. Establishment failed to provide adequate space for animals to lie down if holding overnight and access to water in the pen which constitute noncompliance with the regulatory requirements set forth in 9 CFR 313.2 (e).
