Non-Compliance Description:

HATS Category VII Observation for Slips and Falls On Wednesday January 12, 2022 at 7:20am while performing the antemortem component of the Livestock Humane Handling task on two cattle, SPHV Dr. REDACTED observed one cattle slip and fall in the holding pen. The cattle’s hind end made hard contact with the ground and it grunted in the process. The cattle quickly rose back up and did not appear to be injured. The ground is made of concrete and was covered with a layer of mud. A plant employee and plant owner Mr. REDACTED were quickly notified of the noncompliance, and a U.S. Retain tag NO. B24048347 was applied to the unloading area to prevent any new animals from being unloaded prior to a corrective action being performed on the ground in the holding pen. A search in PHIS does not show any recent similar noncompliance in the last 90 days. This is a noncompliance according to regulation 313.1b.
