On 10/25/2021, at approximately 1300 hours, at establishment 21179 M J & J Packing Co. LLC... while observing the Humane Handling for the stunning I observed an employee that was in charged with the task of driving the swine up to the stunner, raise a paddle stick/ canvas slapper up over his head and bringing it down in a swift and deliberate motion striking a swine on the back hard, which made a loud popping sound that excited the animal even more to a flight mode behavior. I got the employees attention and told him that is not acceptable, I then went to the front office and notified the Plant Manager, Mr. REDACTED of the incident and the forthcoming NR. Mr. REDACTED took corrective actions by replacing the employee with another and counseled the employee on his actions. This establishment is noncompliance with 9 CFR 313.2 and 9 CFR 313.30 (a)(2).
