Non-Compliance Description:

On 12/14/2021 at approximately 8:15 AM while performing a humane handling task and observing the HATS (Humane Activity Tracking System) category handling during antemortem inspection and electric prodding/alternative object use at Wells, Jenkins, and Wells TA-881, the following noncompliance was observed. IIC observed the divider separating pens 1 and 2 has damage on the bottom. The damaged section is approximately 4 feet long by 2 feet at its greatest height that has sharp, splintered edges around the opening. This damage could cause injury to animals located in pens 1 and/or 2. No regulatory control action was taken. I notified REDACTED (kill floor supervisor) and REDACTED (plant owner) of the noncompliance with 9CFR 313.1(a).
