On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at approximately 4:20pm SPHV REDACTED was outside observing animals to be held overnight in order to verify HATS Category III ‘Water and Feed Availability’. SPHV REDACTED observed the following: -Seven cattle in the largest overnight holding pen had access to a stock tank, but it contained only 1-2 inches of algae/sludge and plant debris. -Two cattle held in an outside pen along the barn that had no container for water within the pen. SPHV REDACTED notified the establishment owner of findings and of the forthcoming non-compliance report. The establishment owner said the animals did have water when he checked on them at lunchtime. He immediately went out to provide water for the cattle after being notified of the situation. These findings are non-compliant with 9 CFR 313.2(e), which requires that water be accessible to livestock in all holding pens. A review of non-compliance records reveals no non-compliances due to a similar cause in the past 90 days.
