Non-Compliance Description:

CATEGORY 111-WATER AND FEED AVAILABILITY: On 5/1/23 at approximately 1055 hours, while performing a routine category 111 water and feed availability task I observed pens 9 and 11 with a multitude of lamb, but no water was observed in the water troughs nor any signs of feed. I was informed that 286 lamb had arrived at the plant and were on the premises at 12 noon Sunday 4/30/23. I immediately informed Plant Manager REDACTED of the problem. Mr. REDACTED, along with REDACTED immediately implemented corrective actions and went to the pens and had the troughs filled with water and placed feed in the pens. I then proceeded to verbally inform Mr. REDACTED, and Mr. REDACTED that a noncompliance record would be issued. The establishment has not complied with 9CFR 331.2(e)--Animals shall have access to water in all holding pens and, if held longer than 24 hours, access to feed. There shall be sufficient room in the holding pen for animals held overnight to lie down.
