Non-Compliance Description:

On October 17th, 2022, at approximately 13:30 hours, while observing the establishments Humane Handling of beef, I, CSI REDACTED, Observed the following noncompliance. While stunning a Holstein Heifer, an establishment employee attempted a poll stun, that did not render the animal unconscious. The beef remained standing and lowered its head. The animal did not vocalize or move around inside the chute. A second stun was immediately applied to the forehead, using the backup captive bolt, and was effective. Establishment supervisor REDACTED was notified of the noncompliance verbally. The knock box was tagged with U.S Retained Tag NO. B34467894, until FSIS supervision was contacted. Mr. REDACTED was notified verbally and this record serves as written notice of the establishments failure to meet the regulatory requirements of 9CFR 313.15(a)(1). After reviewing the records, no associations can be made at this time
