Non-Compliance Description:

February 8, 2023 at 8:10 a.m. While performing a routine Livestock Humane Handling task, I, REDACTED, witnessed noncompliance with 9CFR 313.1(b). Upon walking outside to observe livestock unloading off the supplier’s truck, I noticed that the unloading dock/driveway was covered in packed snow and ice. The unloading had already begun and about half of the hogs were unloaded when I went outside to observe the unloading of livestock. The dock/driveway is approximately 15 feet, and leads to where the livestock enter the establishment. There was between approximately 3-12 inches of packed ice and snow covering the entirety of the dock/driveway. Nothing was applied to the dock/driveway to aid in the animal’s footing (eg:sand). I informed REDACTED (Owner) that I would be issuing an NR for this noncompliance.
