HATS Category VIII: Stunning Effectiveness On Thursday, June 22, 2023 at approximately 12:30pm, while observing a USDA condemned, non-ambulatory bovine being euthanized, Supervisor Ms. REDACTED and IIC Mr. REDACTED observed an establishment employee fail to render the animal unconscious on initial shot with a 12 gauge firearm with slug ammunition, as evidenced by the animal lifting its head with tracking eye movement. The stun operator reloaded the firearm, and delivered an effective corrective action stun, rendering the animal unconscious, and it remained so thereafter. US Reject/Retain Tag number B22270817 was applied to the knock box, and REDACTED, establishment owner, was notified of the non-compliance and of the regulatory control action.
