Non-Compliance Description:

HATS Category III: Water and Feed Availability While performing the second quarter odd-hour humane handling inspection on 2/13/2023 at approximately 1840 hours, I observed that cattle did not have access to water. There were 3 pens holding approximately 8 beef cattle each. The 1st pen had no water or water trough provided; the 2nd pen had a water trough with approximately 12 inches thick of ice that was too thick to penetrate; and the 3rd pen had a water trough with a piece of solid ice at the bottom that was approximately 3 inches thick. The establishment management was verbally notified of the forthcoming noncompliance record. This is a noncompliance with 9 CFR 313.2(e). There have been no Humane Handling NR’s or MOI’s documented for same root cause within the past 90 days.
