HATS Category III - Water and Feed Availability. On July 9, 2024, at approximately 7:30 am, SPHV REDACTED observed the following non-compliance at Bern Meats, Est. 21293. While conducting the Humane Handling Yearly Assessment, SPHV REDACTED observed the water containers in pens #1 and #2 containing 4 head of cattle were empty of water, pen #3 containing 2 head of cattle water container contained a thick mixture of fecal material and water. REDACTED of Berns Meat was informed of the deficiencies with the water containers and, had them filled with fresh, clean water. Mr. REDACTED of Berns Meat was verbally informed a non-compliance would be issued. The establishment failed to meet the regulatory requirements of 9 CFR 313.2(e).
