On August 16, 2024, at approximately 0940 hours while performing the Humane Handling Observation I, CSI REDACTED observed the following noncompliance. The trailer that was unloading the beef cattle had a ramp that was approximately 12 feet in length and 3 feet wide and appeared to be wet. The ramp also had a hole about two feet toward the bottom. When the cows were running out into the barn stall one cow slipped and fell on to its side from stepping in the hole on the ramp. I immediately stopped the unloading process until the ramp was turned around, so the hole was at the top inside of the trailer. The cow didn’t seem to be injured as I observed it in the stall. Plant Owner, REDACTED was present and observed the noncompliance regarding 9 CFR 313.1. Mr. REDACTED assured me that he would personally make sure the ramp and the area where they unload the cattle will be dry and free of water or mud.
