At approximately 11:45 am on 8/22/24 at HCSD Agri-Business Center (est. 2169) while observing stunning effectiveness, the IIC observed that it took three shots with a .22 magnum rifle to effectively render a hog unconscious. After the first shot the hog remained standing but did not vocalize. The second shot was immediate, but the hog remained standing. The third shot was immediate and effectively rendered the hog unconscious. The stunner then applied a security stun. This is in noncompliance with 9 CFR 313.16(a)(1) and 313.16(b)(1)(iii). Establishment personnel skinned the head and on postmortem inspection four points of entry were identified. The knock box was tagged with US Rejected tag # B42156549 and the plant manager was notified of the noncompliance.
