HATS Category III – Water and Feed Availability On 10-4-23 at approximately 11:00 am, Establishment M46433 received a delivery of 4 bob veal calves from Gooding, Idaho. On 10-5-23 at approximately 12:15pm three of the calves had been held in a pen longer than twenty-four hours without feed. One of the 4 calves in the original delivery had died prior to antemortem inspection on 10-5-23. The line foreman said he had provided the three calves an electrolyte solution. The CSI informed the line foreman that providing an electrolyte solution to the three calves did not suffice as feeding the calves. The CSI also informed the line foreman that a non-compliance record would be issued citing 9 CFR 313.2(e). No regulatory control action was taken as the calves were slaughtered immediately. A review of past records identified no recent noncompliance with the same root cause and this NR will not be associated.
