On 7/30/24 at approximately 10:00 AM, while performing a Livestock Humane Handling Task and observing HATS Category III Water and Feed Availability near the pens, I, REDACTED CSI, observed the following noncompliance. On Monday, 7/29/24, at 10:00 AM, five sheep arrived at the establishment, and only two were slaughtered that day. The next day, on Tuesday, 7/30/24, I asked Mr. REDACTED, pen manager, at 10:15 AM if those three sheep had been fed since yesterday, and he replied to me, "No". Then, he put something there to feed them. I notified Mr. REDACTED that the sheep had not been fed for over 24 hours and that I would be documenting a noncompliance due to 9 CFR 313.2(e).

The next day on Wednesday 6/12/24 the establishment slaughtered some of the remaining pigs and kept six for slaughter on Thursday. I asked Mr. REDACTED, pen manager, on 6/12/24 at 1300 hours if the pigs had been fed and he told me he didn’t have any feed. I notified Mr. REDACTED that the pigs had not been fed for over 24 hours and that I would be documenting a noncompliance. Mr. REDACTED stated he would make sure the pigs were fed. This is noncompliant with 9 CFR 313.2 (e).
313.1
On Thursday May 30, 2024 at about 6am as part of a routine humane handling task, I Relief Inspector REDACTED, found the following noncompliance. In the crowding gate area leading to the chute and stunning box, I observed the metal paneling on the bottom of the crowding swing gate to have sharp protruding metal about 8 inches long and hanging up from the floor/ground three inches and directly where livestock may catch and injure their feet. This observation is noncompliant with the regulatory requirements of 9 CFR 313.1 that requires all such equipment and fixtures for handling to be in good repair and without sharp protruding surfaces.
