Non-Compliance Description:

On November 21, 2023 at approximately 1245 hours the Consumer Safety Inspector (CSI) and the District Veterinary Medical Specialist (DVMS) found the following noncompliance: After slaughter was complete the CSI and DVMS walked down the exterior, wood ramp to head to the holding pens. Along the way, a gap (approximately 5 inches by 6 inches) was found on the walkway. The gap appeared to be rotted and or worn out. The ramp connects the holding pens to the knock box chutes and is the only method in which the cattle can enter the knock box. The CSI and the DVMS spoke with Mr. REDACTED, Plant Manager, about the gap and informed him of the upcoming noncompliance with 9 CFR 313.1 at approximately 1330 hours. The CSI found Mr. REDACTED corrective actions acceptable the following morning. Slaughter continued on 11/22/23 as scheduled.
