HATS Category II- Truck Unloading HATS Category IV- AM Inspection On 10/16/2023 during the performance of a routine humane handling visit, Dr. REDACTED, District Veterinary Medical Specialist (DVMS), observed the following noncompliance. Areas of rust corrosion with sharp, jagged metal edges were observed on the metal panels and posts in the truck unloading alleyway, the metal panels and posts in the alleyways leading to and from the live animal scale, the metal paneling in the U.S. Suspect pen, and a rail between Pens C7 and C8. The areas in disrepair were pointed out to Mrs. REDACTED, Plant Manager, who was accompanying Dr. REDACTED during the visit. The alleyways and pens were not in use at the time of the observations. Mrs. REDACTED was advised of the noncompliance and the establishment’s failure to comply with the regulatory requirements prescribed in 9 CFR 313.1(a). Mrs. REDACTED notified the maintenance department, and a worker came out and started grinding down the sharp edges identified.
