Non-Compliance Description:

On 10/26/2023 at approximately 9:45am while conducting a humane handling inspection task and verifying the HATS categories, the FLS, SPHV and CSI observed a humane handling noncompliance. It took four stunning attempts to render a ram unconscious with a 22-long rifle firearm. The first, second and third stun did not render the ram unconscious. The employee performing the stunning took immediate effective corrective actions between all stun attempts and rendered the ram unconscious on the fourth stun. On postmortem inspection there were three distinct points of contact observed on the head of the ram. Management (Mr. REDACTED) was immediately notified of the noncompliance. The stun chute was not immediately tagged with a retain tag due to the ram being the last animal of the day to be slaughtered. The stun chute is now tagged with USDA retain tag number B37448861.
