On September 15, 2025, at approximately 0700 hours, I, the CSI, accompanying the DVMO performing a routine humane handling verification visit, observed the following noncompliance. A pen of 3 pigs had pushed their water tub out of the pen and no longer had access to water. Approximately 10 minutes passed before an establishment employee noticed the water pan outside of the pen and slid it back under the fence. All three pigs immediately began drinking water. This finding represents non-compliance with regulation 9 CFR 313.2 (e). The establishment owner soon arrived and was verbally notified of the forthcoming noncompliance record. The Denver District Management Team was notified through supervisory channels. There have been no noncompliance reports issued for the same root cause in the past 90 days. This establishment does not operate under a robust systematic approach to livestock humane handling and slaughter.
