On 10/3/2024 at approximately 0710 hours while performing a HATS Category Ill- Water and Feed Availability Humane Handling task, I, CSI REDACTED, observed that no feed was available in the two pens with hogs held from the previous slaughter on 10/1. There was no evidence that any feed had been given to them either. The hogs in pen A and pen O were received on 10/1/24. These pens held 40 and 45 pigs respectively. When questioned, barn personnel stated that none of them provided feed to the pigs on 10/1 or 10/2/24 before 24 hours of being held. The pigs appeared comfortable. I informed plant manager REDACTED of this noncompliance and forthcoming NR. 9 CFR 313.2(e) states in part that animals held more than 24 hours shall have access to feed. This NR serves as written notification of your failure to meet regulatory requirements.
