HAT Category VIII - Stunning Effectiveness At approximately 1027 hours I, CSI REDACTED, observed Fayette Packing establishment personnel M6555 stunning a large Swine (live weight 425 lbs.). The Swine was driven into the knock chute, and the head gate closed. The establishment followed their stunning procedure with two stuns, rapidly successive with a handheld captive bolt device. The first stun was observed to contact the animal, but was ineffective, as the animal remaining standing and vocalizing. An immediate and effective corrective action stun was then delivered with a handheld captive bolt device, rendering the animal insensible and it remained so thereafter. A US Reject tag No. B43049435 was applied to the knock box and REDACTED, establishment owner, was notified of the non-compliance with 9 CFR 313.15(a)(1) and 9 CFR 313.15(a)(3).
