On December 31,2024, while performing a humane handling task, at approximately 7:55am, IPP observed a longhorn animal in the trailer. The Establishment shot the animal while in the trailer. The first shot was made with a .22 rifle by REDACTED and it was ineffective, which dropped the animal to a crouched position and rolled to its side, the eyes of the animal were blinking and tracking movement of the 3 employees near the trailer. At approximately 7:58 am a captive bolt was immediately used and the knock was ineffective as the eyes continued to blink and track movement around the animal. IPP moved around the side of the trailer to observe for rhythmic breathing, which was not confirmed. No vocalization was observed,. At approximately 8:00 am a third stun attempt with a .22 magnum was used, which rendered the animal unconscious successfully, with no visual eye tracking observed. At approximately 8:03 am IPP notified HACCP Coordinator, REDACTED I would be tagging the knock box with US Tag # B-45 443661 for the plant noncompliance in violation of 9 CFR 313.16(a)(1) and 9 CFR 313.15(a)(1). The knock box was tagged at approximately 8:05 am. I notified my immediate supervisor SCSI REDACTED. No recent HH NR and the plant has an active robust systematic approach program. REDACTED
