Non-Compliance Description:

On 03/24/2025 at approximately 1330 hours. I heard a shot from the captive bolt fire, then I heard the hog squalling. I then made my way to the knocking box area. I saw the hog standing and then the knocker knocks again with the captive bolt. The shot was placed, and the hog remained standing. The knocker motioned for to move because they were going to use the firearm. I stepped out the side door. Then I heard the shot from the firearm, looked inside and the hog was still standing. I stepped back outside, then heard the fourth shot. Looked inside and the hog was completely rendered unconscious. I then took regulatory action by applying a US Retain tag to the knocking box. I explained to Management that was the last animal to be killed till they get with Dallas District office. And informed them of the forthcoming non-compliance. The establishment does not have a robust systematic approach program. The establishment failed to render the animal unconscious in a manner that will minimize discomfort and excitement. Having an ineffective stun does not meet regulatory requirement of 9 CFR 313.15(a)(1), and 313.16(a)(1). CAT: VIII
