Non-Compliance Description:

Category IV - Ante-mortem Inspection. At approximately 06:45 hours while performing Antemortem Inspection Verification in the Live Animal Holding Pens, I observed the following Humane Handling Noncompliance. In Holding Pen #2, I observed one swine was present. The floor in the pen was dry and the container used to hold water for the swine appeared to be empty of water. Upon further observation, I observed that the container was indeed empty, and no water had been provided for the single swine present in the pen. Management was immediately notified, corrective actions were taken, and water was provided. Owner, REDACTED was notified of the forthcoming noncompliance. The requirements of 9 CFR 313.2(e) which states, in part, “Animals shall have access to water in all holding pens and, if held longer than 24 hours, access to feed”. This document serves as written notification that your failure to comply with regulatory requirements could result in additional regulatory or administrative actions.
