Non-Compliance Description:

HATS Category III: Water and Feed Availability On January 30th, 2025, at 0819 hours while following-up on a routine Livestock Humane Handling Inspection for Water and Feed Availability Inspection, I observed the following noncompliance. One holding pen containing a total of three Bovines being held for slaughter had frozen solid water on the containers assigned to holding pen. Current temperatures during my inspection were 17 degrees Fahrenheit. I verbally notified the Slaughter Plant Manager that a noncompliance would be documented. At 0858 hours, I was informed that one of the animals held on a different pen the day prior, accidentally unplugged the cord that activated the water heaters. The water heater was plugged in, and water was made accessible to the animals. This noncompliant report will be associated with Noncompliance #CDS5414012521N documented on 1/21/2025 for similar concerns.

Non-Compliance Description:

HATS Category III: Water and Feed Availability On January 21st, 2025, at 0817 hours while in conduction of a Livestock Humane Handling Inspection for Water and Feed Availability, I observed the following noncompliance. The four holding pens containing a total of twelve Bovines and two sheep being held for slaughter all had frozen water on the containers assigned to each pen. Temperatures had dropped to 9 degrees Fahrenheit the night before. I verbally notified the Slaughter Plant Manager that a noncompliance would be documented. At 0830 hours the frozen water was broken down and water was made accessible to the animals, one submergible water heater was added to one water container. A 90-day review of establishment records showed no records to associate with this noncompliance.
