On Tuesday October 29th, at approximately 10:15 AM, CSI REDACTED was performing a HATS Category III- water and feed availability in the barn area of establishment. The barn is where animals are held before slaughter. During this time CSI REDACTED observed 5 beef cattle being dropped off for slaughter. CSI performed ante-mortem inspection at this time. For the next 30 minutes CSI REDACTED observed the 5 cattle be held in a smaller holding pen without access to water. This is a non-compliance with CFR 313.2(e) which states " animals shall have access to water in all holding pens and if held longer than 24 hours, access to feed". CSI REDACTED notified Plant Manager REDACTED of the non-compliance and that a NR would be documented.
