HATS Category VIII: Stunning Effectiveness At Perdido River Meats LLC M2920, on Tuesday March 18, 2025 at approximately 9:15, IIC REDACTED observed an establishment employee move the 5th steer of the day to the knocking box and restrained with the head catch. The first stun attempt with handheld captive bolt (HHCB) device was observed to contact the animal but was ineffective, as the animal remained standing with tracking eye movements. Establishment personnel recognized the failure and administered immediate and effective corrective actions with the HHCB device, rendering the animal insensible, and it remained so thereafter. IIC REDACTED applied US Reject Tag number B21729415 on the knocking box and notified REDACTED (QA Manager) and REDACTED (production manager) of the non-compliance and of the regulatory control action.
