HATS Category VIII Stunning On Wednesday November 27 at 8:00 A.M., while performing a routine Humane Handling task, IIC REDACTED and PHV Dr. REDACTED observed an ineffective stun on a beef animal. The first beef of the morning was moved into the knock box on the slaughter floor where the first stun attempt with the .22 long rifle was unsuccessful as the animal remained standing. Establishment employee noted that the animal moved its head just prior to this first attempt. An immediate second stun, with the same weapon, successfully rendered the animal unconscious and it remained so thereafter. US Reject and Retain tag B21729348 was applied to the knock box pending acceptable corrective actions.
