Non-Compliance Description:

Good Commercial Practices On 12/17/2021 at 0824 SPHV Dr. REDACTED, IIC observed the following noncompliance while performing Good Commercial Practices. An establishment employee in live hang standing in the first position at the beginning of the conveyer belt was observed, shackling a bird. The individual then closed his hand into a fist, withdrew his closed hand from the shackled birds and rapidly accelerated his hand towards the birds on the line. The individual deliberately struck a bird in the breast. IIC immediately reported the observation to establishment supervisor REDACTED. IIC then notified establishment manager REDACTED that intentional mistreatment of an animal is a noncompliance. This observation is noncompliant with 9 CFR 381.65(b). The establishments immediately implemented corrective action with the observed individual and scheduled humane handling retraining at the end of the shift.
