Non-Compliance Description:

At approximately 1005 hours, while I was conducting a PHIS Good Commercial Practice (GCP) task, I observed the following noncompliance: I noted a grey combo bin fully filled with condemned chicken carcasses. This combo bin was located on the northside, outside of the live hang structure. I noted that there was not any denaturant present on these carcasses. This does not meet the regulatory requirements of 9 CFR 381.65(b) Good commercial practices for poultry slaughter , 9 CFR 381.95 Disposal of condemned poultry products, which states that all condemned carcasses, or condemned parts of carcasses, or other condemned poultry products, except those condemned for biological residues shall be disposed of by one of the following methods, under the supervision of an inspector of the Inspection Service and 9 CFR 381.95(c) Chemical denaturing, which shall be accomplished by the liberal application to all carcasses and parts thereof. I applied a U.S. Retained tag NO. B41 202823 on the edge of the bin that contained these carcasses. I verbally informed the plant QC Dayshift Supervisor REDACTED of the noncompliance and that it would be documented in this NR. The plant QC Supervisor REDACTED took a corrective action immediately by applying denature to the bin of carcasses. I released the bin for transportation of the denatured carcasses to the offal trailer for proper condemnation at approximately 1025 hours.
