According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of California was 12.5% (sa) in December, 2009. Among all California counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Imperial (27.7%), Colusa (23.1%), and Sutter (19.8%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Marin (8.1%), San Mateo (8.8%), and San Francisco (9.3%).
