According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of New Jersey was 5.6% (sa) in August, 2008. Among all New Jersey counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Cumberland (8.1%), Passaic (7.1%), and Essex (6.9%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Hunterdon (4%), Morris (4.2%), and Somerset (4.3%).
