According to the FBI UCR data, in 2023, there were 66,941 total arrests made in the US for motor vehicle theft offenses.

By Race: The highest number of those arrested were identified as White (38.83K), followed by Black or African American (26.10K), and American Indian or Alaska Native (996).

By Ethnicity: Ethnicity information was reported for 59,244 (89%) of those arrested. Among those for whom ethnicity was reported, the highest number were identified as Not Hispanic or Latino (43.28K), followed by Hispanic or Latino (15.96K).
