US Number of Total Arrests By Population Group for Motor Vehicle Theft Offenses in 2023

According to the FBI UCR data, in 2023, there were 69,559 total arrests made in the US for motor vehicle theft offenses. There were 55,605 total arrests made in All Cities; 10,588 total arrests made in Metropolitan Counties; 3,366 total arrests made in Nonmetropolitan Counties; and 20,167 total arrests made in Suburban Areas.

In terms of rate of arrests per 100K inhabitants, Group I - Cities had the highest (43.7), followed by Total Cities (28), and Group II - Cities (25.4).

  5. Group V - Cities: Cities with a population of 10,000 to 24,999.
