According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2011, the birth rate for the United States was 12.8. Utah had the highest birth rate (18.58), followed by Alaska (16.31), and District of Columbia (15.01). On the other hand, Maine had the lowest birth rate (9.51), followed by Vermont (9.67), and New Hampshire (9.85).
Birth Rate refers to the average annual number of births during a year per 1,000 population at midyear.
