According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2011, the number of births for South Dakota was 11,790. Minnehaha County had the highest number of births (2,758), followed by Pennington County (1,513), and Lincoln County (755) On the other hand, Hyde County had the lowest number of births (13), followed by Harding County (14), and Sully County (15).
