Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2019, the Black or African American Alone population in California was 2,553,676 and represented 6.48% of the total California population (39,437,610).

Among California counties, Los Angeles County had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (900,628), followed by San Bernardino County (205,695), and San Diego County (184,615). Alpine County had the lowest (4).
