According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 47,406 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone in Michigan, which was 0.47% of the total Michigan population.

Chippewa County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (5,601), followed by Wayne County (4,265), and Oakland County (2,236). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone were: Keweenaw County (1), Oscoda County (34), and Missaukee County (48).
