According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 188,610 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone in New Mexico, which was 8.91% of the total New Mexico population.

McKinley County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (55,401), followed by San Juan County (48,413), and Bernalillo County (30,628). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone were: Harding County (0), De Baca County (4), and Hidalgo County (14).
