According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 457,055 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone in Massachusetts, which was 6.50% of the total Massachusetts population.

Suffolk County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone (135,255), followed by Middlesex County (80,996), and Norfolk County (49,311). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone were: Dukes County (795), Franklin County (963), and Nantucket County (1,006).
