According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 39,940,338 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone in the United States, which was 12.05% of the total US population. This number is the population from the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Texas had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone (3,444,712), followed by Georgia (3,278,119), and Florida (3,127,052). On the other hand, the three states with low number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone were: Wyoming (4,735), Montana (5,077), and Vermont (8,649).
